Privacy Policy — Profit Guard

This Privacy Policy explains how Profit Guard ("Profit Guard", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use the Profit Guard application (the "App") for Shopify.

Profit Guard is operated by an independent developer based in the United Arab Emirates. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy covers two groups:

• Merchants — Shopify store owners who install and use Profit Guard.
• Store customers — the people who place orders with those merchants. Profit Guard processes a limited amount of their data on the merchant's behalf, as described below.

2. Information we collect

From merchants, when you install and use the App:

• Your store's domain (for example, your-store.myshopify.com)
• Your contact email and name as provided by Shopify
• An access token issued by Shopify that allows the App to read your store data (stored securely and never shared)
• Configuration you enter, such as product costs (COGS), profit margin thresholds, and fee settings
• Basic usage and diagnostic data (such as log data and access times) used to operate and troubleshoot the service

From your store's orders, processed on your behalf:

To calculate the true profit of each order, Profit Guard reads order information from your Shopify store, including order totals, line items, product prices, shipping amounts, discounts, and the customer name associated with an order. The only personal information about your customers that Profit Guard stores is the customer name shown on an order. Profit Guard does not collect or store your customers' email addresses, payment details, or shipping addresses.

What we do not collect:

• We do not collect or store payment card numbers or banking details. All billing for the App is handled directly by Shopify's billing system.
• We do not use advertising, remarketing, or third-party tracking cookies.

3. How we use information

We use the information above only to:

• Provide the core service — calculating and displaying the true profit and margin of each order
• Show dashboards, alerts, and reports inside your Shopify admin
• Apply your settings, such as margin thresholds, fees, and auto-cancel rules
• Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the App
• Contact you about your account, service updates, or support requests you raise

We do not sell your data or your customers' data, and we do not share it for advertising.

4. How information is shared

We share information only with the infrastructure providers required to run the App:

• Shopify — the platform the App runs on
• Vercel — application hosting
• Neon — managed PostgreSQL database hosting

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Profit Guard, our users, or the public.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain merchant and order data only for as long as your store has the App installed, plus a short period afterward for backups and dispute resolution.

• When you uninstall the App, we delete the data associated with your store.
• We honor Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks. When Shopify sends a customer data request, a customer redaction (deletion) request, or a shop redaction request, Profit Guard responds by providing or permanently deleting the relevant data as required.
• You may also contact us at any time to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data.

6. Data location and transfers

Profit Guard's infrastructure may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including outside the UAE. Where data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely and consistently with this policy.

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

Profit Guard is a business tool for Shopify merchants and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Where appropriate, we will notify merchants of significant changes.
